Quattrochi Vista with Us
For Anita
With Sicily slowly disapperaing in the haze behind us, the Siremar ferry takes Anita and me to the Islole Eólie, the Islands of Eolus, the God of Winds.
Visiting the Lipari Island, as they are called sometimes, is something I wanted to do for three years now, mainly fuelled by the desire to take a look at Stromboli, a constantly active volcano.
The archipelago comprises the islands of
- Vulcano, from which all vocanoes have their name
- Lipari, where obsidian and pumice have been traded for milleniums
- Salina, home of the Malvasia wine and capers
- Filicudi, place of the oldest settlements in the islands
- Alicudi, a lonely dot in the ocean
- Panarea, playground of the rich of Italys North
- Stromboli, the lighthouse of the mediterranean
And, to our pleasure, we found not only the volcanoes are very interessting, but the landscapes are beautiful, the people friendly, and the food delicious.
On these pages I want to tell what we saw and experienced. We invite you to read and hopefully enjoy our story!
