IBM WebSphere
In short, IBM WebSphere is a J2EE container and a vast collection of tools to create web applications.
IBM is older than the hills and had 320,000+ employees world wide in 2004.
Product information
WebSphere Studio consists of a large palette of products (index ). What you probably usually find is developers using WSAD to create Web application in an Eclipse environment for later deployment on the WAS, the WebSphere Application Server. The word "Express" usually refers to a stripped down version of a bigger product.

- IBM Rational Web Developer for WebSphere, formerly known as "Site Developer
(WSSD)", formerly known as "WebSphere Studio Professional Edition" - Entry level. IDE built on Eclipse. JSF support, Service Data Objects, GUI builder, Struts tools
